Wacky Races: The Board Game Deluxe: Animating Your Game

The racers careen around a curve at breakneck speed. Peter Perfect is in the lead, but the Slag Brothers and Penelope Pitstop are hot on his trail. The race hasn’t lasted long, but already the lead has changed several times. These racers all have some sneaky tricks up their sleeves, but that’s nothing compared to the traps and hazards that the evil Dick Dastardly will lay for them, all in an effort to finally cross the finish line first!

Wacky Races: The Board Game Deluxe Edition brings back a ton of nostalgia for fans of the Hanna-Barbera animated show from the 1960s. Players get to take on the role of one of their favorite racers, complete with their signature vehicle. Each car, plane, mobile home, or… rock on wheels has a number of different special abilities that can be deployed at just the right moment to turn the tide of the race. We’ll take a deeper look at the different drivers and their vehicles in a later article. Today, we want to focus on the physical game pieces themselves.

For a board game to come to life on the tabletop, it requires imagination, suspension of belief, and an ability to get caught up in the action. Whether you’re slaying a fearsome dragon, selling art pieces on the open market, or competing in a wild, cross-country race, the components of a game go a long way towards selling the experience. In Wacky Races: The Board Game Deluxe Edition, CMON worked diligently to create miniatures of the different racers and their automobiles that would appeal to those that loved the show and help create a new generation of fans.
